1st Seminar on Education and Educational Policies in Spain

Organised by the Fundación Ortega-Marañón and the Fundación de Estudios de Economía Aplicada (FEDEA), in collaboration with the Fundación Rafael del Pino, Universia, Ariane de Rothschild Foundation and The Aspen Institute España.

 On 15, 16 and 17 November, the Rafael del Pino Foundation hosted the 1st Seminar on Education and Educational Policies in Spain, organised by the Ortega-Marañón Foundation and the Foundation for Applied Economics Studies (FEDEA), in collaboration with the Rafael del Pino Foundation, Universia, the Ariane de Rothschild Foundation, and The Aspen Institute España. 

The inauguration was led by Esperanza AguirrePresident of the Community of Madrid; José Varela OrtegaPresident of the Ortega-Marañón Foundation; Màrius RubiraltaSecretary General for Universities; Maria del PinoPresident of the Rafael del Pino Foundation; Lea PeersmanDirector of the Ariane de Rothschild Foundation; Jaume PagésCEO of Universia and Javier SolanaPresident of The Aspen Institute España. James J. HeckmanNobel Laureate in Economics 2000, will deliver the inaugural lecture. 

This Seminar addressed, from a critical and objective perspective, the problems affecting education in Spain and education policies in Spain on issues such as school failure and dropout; the Pisa Report, University and excellence, University and the labour market and Education and values, among others. The programme included the participation of leading national and international analysts, public officials and representatives of political parties.
