Arthur B. Laffer

Insights on the Economy

On 13 December, the Rafael de Pino Foundation organised the Master Conference "Insights on the Economy", which was given by Arthur B. Laffer, economist, consultant and expert in financial markets and fiscal policy.

Arthur B. Laffer, who is considered the Father of Supply-Side Economics, has shaped the development of US tax policy for more than three decades. Years of consulting experience have distinguished him in both the private and public sectors, serving on the boards of Clark Bardes, HNTB, Manhattan East Suite Hotels, Retirement Capital Group and Vizional Technologies. Mr. Laffer is the founder and President of Laffer Associates, a firm that provides global research services to institutions, pension funds, financial institutions and corporations focusing on the interconnectedness of macroeconomic, political and demographic factors affecting financial markets.

Served on Reagan's Panel of Economic Policy Advisors; member of Reagan's and Bush's Finance Committee. He has taught at Pepperdine University, where he served on the Board of Trustees, the University of Southern California and the University of Chicago. Laffer is also internationally recognised as the creator of the Laffer Curve, one of the main theoretical bodies of Supply-Side Economics used to summarise the pro-growth vision of this theoretical current.

His awards include two Graham & Dodd awards from the Financial Analyst Federation for articles published in the Financial Analysts Journal; the Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of Investment Clubs; the Adam Smith Award and the Daniel Webster Award from the International Platform Association.
