“The only difference between science and magic is that we tell the trick at the end,» he confesses. Javier García Martínez at this interview granted to the University of Cantabria before inaugurating the latest edition of its Summer Courses, in the Church of Santa María de la Asunción in Laredo, with a lecture entitled When machines do science.

In the conversation, Javier García makes the following reflection: “Why don't people want to accept evidence when they have access to information and the information is so obvious? We think we communicate with data, but having evidence is not enough to convince. People are not convinced with reasons, but with emotions. Why do people smoke, why don't they do sport, why do they buy lottery tickets? Because there is an emotional part in the things we decide and not all the decisions we make are rational.
