On 4 November 2008, the Rafael del Pino Foundation and Professor Felipe Fernández Armesto signed a collaboration agreement aimed at developing the research entitled "The lost Empire. An unorthodox History of the United State".
The purpose of the research and its publication, at least in English and Spanish, is to highlight and disseminate the relevant role of Spain in the history of America, whose traditional studies reflect, almost exclusively, the Anglo-Saxon identity, without integrating the different agents that participated in the construction of American history. This research fills this gap and will attempt to contribute to historiography the influence of the different origins, languages and cultures that shaped and constructed the history of America and to show that there is another history, apart from the traditional narrative, in particular, a Spanish history.
The research has resulted in the work "Our America", which describes our long shared history as that of all great peoples, the values that identify us above all differences, and a language, Spanish, which in its unity is a great treasure.
