On 22 January 2004, the Director of the Foundation and Professor Pedro Schwartz signed a research agreement for the drafting of a book directly in English and its publication by Edward Elgar Publishers in the United Kingdom, as well as in the Foundation's Economy and Business collection -and the corresponding presentations-. In addition, the agreement included the organisation of a training seminar aimed at business executives, professors, professionals and members of regulatory bodies and competition authorities.

This research project sought to find a solution within the field of orthodox analytical economics by showing that the conditions of perfect competition, both static and dynamic, can be formulated in a much less restrictive way than is often done by those microeconomists who distrust the spontaneous market mechanism.
