Alejandro Moyano was born in Córdoba, Argentina, on 9 July 1940.

Graduate in History, specialising in Archives. He held the position of Director of the Historical Archive of the Province of Cordoba continuously from 1969 until his retirement in 2011.

Passionate about history, and especially genealogy and heraldry, he was a founding and full member of the Centre for Genealogical and Heraldic Studies of Cordoba, Argentina, and full member of the Argentine Institute of Hispanic Culture of Cordoba and of the Roberto Levillier Institute of Historical Studies. He was also a founding member of the Argentine Academy of Genealogy and Heraldry, and a corresponding member of numerous institutes and centres specialising in the cultivation of Genealogical Sciences, among them our Royal Matritense Academy of Heraldry and Genealogy, to which he was elected Corresponding Academician on 29 April 1993.

He was a university lecturer at the School of Archivists of the National University of Córdoba, Argentina, where he became Director. He is remembered for his intense activity as a lecturer, participating in numerous symposiums, seminars and national and international congresses in the field.

He has published several books, the best known of which in Spain is "Don Jerónimo Luis de Cabrera 1528-1574. Origins and descendants".
