Javier Barrientos Grandon, is Associate Professor in the History of Law and Institutions Department at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He is a full member of the Chilean Academy of History and a corresponding member of the Royal Academy of History. He graduated in Law and Social Sciences from the University of Chile (1990), did his doctorate studies at the University of Zaragoza and obtained his PhD in Law from the University of Castilla-La-Mancha (2004). He was Professor of History of Law at the Faculty of Law of the Universidad Diego Portales (1992-2008) and at the Faculty of Law of the Universidad Central de Chile (2008-2009), researcher with accredited experience on sabbatical at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (2010), and Ramón y Cajal researcher at the Faculty of Law of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (2010-2016).
In Chile he was researcher in charge of research projects of the Fondo Nacional para el Desarrollo e la Ciencia y Tecnología del Estado de Chile (1997-2010), and in Spain he participates in projects led by the international research group HICOES (HIstoria COnstitucional de ESpaña), financed by the Spanish Ministries of Economy and Education.
