Mercedes Pedraz Calvo studied law and social studies at the University of Salamanca (Spain) and obtained a degree in EEC law at the College of Europe (Bruges, Belgium). She became a judge in 1987, working first in criminal and civil law courts and since January 1992 at the Audiencia Nacional, in Madrid, dealing with antitrust and other cases in economic law.
Mercedes Pedraz Calvo is a frequent lecturer in antitrust and EU law at universities (Universidad Carlos III, Universidad Menéndez Pelayo, ICADE, Universidad San Pablo CEU) as well as the Spanish Antitrust Authority and other administrative bodies.
Participant of academic programmes and training in the Judiciary on Competition and Community Law, which took place in Mexico, El Salvador, Bolivia and Slovakia. Author of several books and articles on competition law and other legal topics. Member of the Academic Council of FIDE.
