Patricia Gabaldón is currently Professor of Economic Environment at IE Business School, where she teaches economics and country economic analysis. She holds a PhD in economics from the University of Alcalá, Spain, and has been a visiting professor at Harvard University.
Professor Gabaldón's research combines sociology and economics to understand gender issues and help decision-making by various economic agents. Among other topics, she has researched the effect of the media on the appointment of female directors, or the role of women entrepreneurs in economic development. She has also studied the impact of economic cycles on gender quotas in board and senior management positions and their effects on the economy and the society around them.
Finally, her current research looks at ways to promote sustainable behaviour among companies, including appropriate gender mainstreaming and the potential effect on sustainable economic growth of countries. Her research has been presented at numerous international conferences and published in leading academic journals such as the Journal of Business Ethics, Corporate Governance: an International Review, or the European Management Journal, among others.
Professor Gabaldón has collaborated with multilateral and global institutions and is a regular contributor to the media. She is also the author of several multimedia cases for MBA students.
