The Rafael del Pino Foundation signed a collaboration agreement with the Telefónica Foundation with the aim of investigating the sponsorship regime in the United States and the advantages and disadvantages of its application in Spain. The research, carried out by Alejandro Blázquez, Professor of Financial and Tax Law at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, is entitled "Tax incentives for patronage in the USA. What can we learn with a view to the reform of Law 49/2002?" and studies, among other aspects: the evolution of the patronage regime in the USA, for individuals and entities, and proposals for reform.
The different alternatives proposed and their estimated effects; the types of patronage depending on the target entities; the tax benefits granted to non-profit entities and their interconnection with patronage policies; the tax control on patronage; the study of taxation related to patronage activities in three developed European countries; the analysis of a set of proposals that could be adapted to Spanish regulations and their justification; the proposal of an alternative text for a Spanish Patronage Law and the tax deduction system applicable to Spanish individuals and entities.
