On 21 September, the inauguration of the restoration work carried out on the main altar of the Church of Nuestra Señora del Pilar in Buenos Aires and the unveiling of a bust of the Vicereine Doña Rafaela de Vera Mújica y López Pintado, the wife of Joaquín del Pino y Rozas, VIII Viceroy of the Río de la Plata, took place.

All sponsored by the Rafael del Pino Foundation. After the restoration, the main altar, dating from 1730, is now in all its baroque splendour and is undoubtedly the best-preserved historic church in the city of Buenos Aires. Rafael del Pino y Moreno was in charge of unveiling the bust of the Virreina, the work of the prestigious Spanish sculptor Santiago de Santiago.

It is noteworthy that, since its inauguration, both the restoration work on the High Altar and the altars of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the recently installed sculpture have been visited by a large number of people. The Buenos Aires press and, in particular, the newspaper La Nación, reported on all this.
