Between 3 and 27 May 2011, the Royal Academy of History organised - in homage to the Founder, Rafael del Pino y Moreno - with the sponsorship of the Rafael del Pino Foundation, the series of conferences "La América Virreinal en la Monarquía Hispana" (Vice-Royal America in the Hispanic Monarchy).

The content of the different interventions dealt with the founding work of the Catholic Monarchs, the government of the viceroyalties, their defence and their finances, the protection of the Indians, the voyage to the Indies, and America in the Age of Enlightenment. It also dealt with the place of the Spanish-Indian monarchy in European political thought. All the sessions highlighted the most varied aspects of the Crown's action in territories and populations that were fully integrated into the Spanish Monarchy, until they achieved a prosperity that was broken with the fragmentation of the viceroyalties.

The content of this research materialised in the work "El gobierno de un mundo. Virreinatos y audiencias en la América Hispana" published in 2004.
